Facebook on fake Fanpage Likes

After its quarterly filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and stating that five percent of its 995 million members have duplicated accounts and some ten percent of its total numbers could be fake Facebook profiles, the Palo Alto, California based Social Networking Giant has been dealing with another filtering problem.

On September 1, Facebook blogged about improving the Site’s Integrity Systems by targeting on fake likes accumulated by brand pages through unlike ways or fraudulent means caused by creating fake accounts, by malware and spambots.

(Source: Facebook) – “On average, less than 1% of Likes on any given Page will be removed, providing them and their affiliates have been abiding by our terms. These newly improved automated efforts will remove those Likes gained by malware, compromised accounts, deceived users, or purchased bulk Likes. While we have always had dedicated protections against each of these threats on Facebook, these improved systems have been specifically configured to identify and take action against suspicious Likes.”

Facebook reiterating, that they never permitted people or will not permit Fanpange owners to purchase or sale Facebook likes as they only want their members and page owners to connect with whom they have chosen to. The movement should benefit both users and fan pages as they connect with people and subscribed to pages that are only relevant and likely to give them the right network or connection.

This improvement would also likely to filter Facebook’s credibility issue, and along with this are future expectations of a free-fake profile networking site and should live by its principle when it was built.

But some advertiser’s and analysts  think, that before Facebook should even start with this, they should fix their advertising platforms where they themselves has been found using .bots to increase the number of click-troughs of their advertisers but some search engine analytics can’t find any good referring source for it.

As Facebook is getting more and bigger by the day with its members, the expectations and the trust-ratios are climbing as well and people are relying with the success and movement to improve the largest social networking site.
